Add Carbs to your Diet | Lose Weight Fast

The Atkins Diet approach to fast weight loss attracts a lot of people because it gives you permission to eat all of the high fat, grease coated foods you desire just as long as you give up carbs. Bacon and eggs for breakfast and steak for dinner is attractive to a lot of people, but it simply is not the most effective method for weight loss.

These high fat diets are based on the idea that carbs are mostly stored as fat and therefore, it is better to take in more fat and protein calories than carb calories. Yet there has been rather extensive research on this concept and Dr. Atkins is simply not supported in this theory.

It is true that refined carbs such as sugary treats and white bread will go into your blood stream much quicker than whole food carbs such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. If you eat the refined carbs in excess a lot of it will be stored as fat, but there is more to the story.

There are 9 calories in a gram of fat, and 4 calories per gram of carbohydrate. If your body is given the same amount of calories of fat as carbohydrates, it will usually store more of the fat grams in your fat cells and burn the carbohydrates for fuel. This goes directly against Dr. Atkins theory and it happens for a reason.

Your body must break carbohydrates and fat down into smaller pieces before it can store those calories as fat. But, if you are eating healthy carbs your body must work harder to break those down than it has to work to break down fat. Less work breaking down fat means you burn less energy off to break them down, making them the better candidates to be stored. More energy is burned off processing the carbs so they are better to be burned for immediate energy, not stored.

What this means is that you are more likely to store fat from the bacon and eggs Dr. Atkins hands you than you would from an egg sandwich made without oil and served on whole grain bread. If you eat a greasy plate of fried foods along with vegetables and whole grain toast your body will store the greasy foods as fat and burn off the veggies and grains for energy!

Carbohydrates are your bodys number one source of energy and you need them! You are best to stick with unprocessed carbs in your diet. Lose weight fast without giving up everything you love! The strict deprivation of programs like the Atkins Diet usually make followers on and off again followers, forcing their weights into the yo-yo pattern that is extremely unhealthy.

Besides, how fun is a juicy hamburger without a bun? Consider a much healthier burger with extra lean hamburger meat or ground turkey and a whole grain bun. Buns are now being made soft and squishy just like the refined versions, so do not think that healthier foods are all hard and stale these days! With more demand, the options have come a long way.
