Adding Crystals to an Elegant Bedroom Design

Decorating your bedroom is a personal experience, and you should include elements in your design that speaks to your soul. This is why you may want to consider including crystal accents in your design. There are many types of accessories to choose from: For instance, statuary and wall statues that include real or simulated crystals will add a touch of brilliance both to the sculpture as well as to your bedroom. As the light refracts through the crystal accents, it lets tiny rainbows dance around your room, which adds life and energy to the overall design.

Frame a Mirror with Crystals

Another great place to incorporate crystals into your decor is with mirrors. While they both have brilliant characteristics, a mirror reflects light while a crystal simply refracts it. Find a wall mirror that is surrounded in a crystal encrusted frame. As light passes around the mirror and the crystals, you will create a brilliant spectacle inside your bedroom. You can hang the mirror over you dresser or over a small, oval table where you can echo the oval shape of the mirror.

Then adorn your table with a cut crystal vase filled with fresh cut flowers and not only will it sparkle in the room, but the mirror will reflect its sparkle as well. Or you may prefer to hang a crystal wall vase on either side of your mirror instead, which you can fill with live or even silk blooms for a spot of color on the wall.

Hang Sparkling Crystals in a Window

For a dancing display of prisms on your walls try hanging a collection of shiny, cut crystals in your windows. As the sunlight changes throughout the day, so will the light show in your bedroom. Even on days when the light is low, you will still enjoy a flickering display on your bedroom walls.

If you keep your eyes open, you can find cut crystals in many different places including specialty stores, new age stores, flea markets and thrift stores. You can find them to suit any budget, and they are available in many different sizes. Use clear thread or fishing line to suspend them from your curtain rod so that they look like snowflakes dancing in the sunlight.

Beads and Crystals Add Sparkle to Window Dressings

To add a little sparkle to your bedroom, you can embellish your curtains with crystals and crystal beads. Use them as a border, or simply to adorn your tiebacks to add a little brightness to your window treatments. You may also want to use a string of sparkling crystals as tiebacks for your curtains to add even a little more glamour to your bedroom curtains. You can find them in craft stores in all different colors, sizes and shapes. You can inter mix them with glass beads to create whatever type of design you wish.

To create your tiebacks, make at two or more strands of glass beads and crystals for each of your drapery panels, and simply tie the ends around the curtains. Add a small cup hook on either side of your window frame and simply loop the strand of glass beads and crystals over the hook to hold the curtains open. Not only will these tiebacks add a custom flair to your curtains, but they will add a little brightness to your room as well.

Look for wall art that includes crystal accents. You can find metal wall sculptures that use clear or colored crystal and glass as accents, and this type of artwork will be the perfect complement for your star studded bedroom, creating a peacefully energizing space.
