Bedroom Decor with Thai and Asian Style

By: Jason Scott

If you want to create a well-defined look for your bedroom, you may want to consider decorating it in an Asian inspired theme. By combining the simple lines of wooden Asian furniture with the opulence of Thai silk you can create a bedroom that is at once luxurious and comfortable.

Thai silk is a durable, breathable and soft fabric that will not only make your design beautiful to look at but quite livable as well. When you are decorating in this style, do not settle for machine made imitation silk fabric, because you will not only feel the difference, but time will not be kind to them either. By juxtaposing the simplicity of the Asian furnishings you will allow the colors of the fine silks to take center stage and create the mood of your bedroom.

Color Creates the Mood

Mixing the Asian and Thai aesthetic in this way in your bedroom will create the perfect environment in which you can unwind. By choosing the perfect colors for your bedroom, you can create a peaceful easy atmosphere, or you can create an energizing atmosphere. By choosing neutral tone on tone color treatments, you can create an elegant feeling in your bedroom.

Teak and Bamboo Style Bedroom Furniture

Asian furniture uses planet friendly materials like teak and bamboo for their construction. So when you are shopping for Asian furniture, keep in mind some of the more green options that are available in this style. If you prefer clear, clean spaces with a minimal amount of clutter, then you may want to create a Zen feeling in your room by including furniture pieces that are balanced and work in harmony with each other and the room. Remember that it is the contrast of the simple lines of the furniture against the rich opulence of the silk that creates the interest in your bedroom design, so choose simple lines in your furniture.

Thai Silk Adds Luxury to the Bedroom

Then it is time ramp up the wow factor in your design. Add some details to your room with your fabric choices. For example, add bold accent colored throw pillows to your bed and embellish them with trim or beaded trim. For a more soothing environment use muted green, blue and grey tones to add sophistication. You can also arrange candles with soothing scents like jasmine or lavender to further the soothing aesthetic.

To carry the Asian theme further, you can add accessories like a Buddha or elephants. You may also choose to incorporate some Asian theme paintings or prints on your bedroom walls as well. Choose flowers, landscapes or even your favorite animals for this design element. As you are selecting art, make sure that it appeals to you, because the point of your bedroom is to offer you a relaxing space to recharge your energy at the end of a long and hectic day.
