The Basics Of Bodybuilding Exercises

By: Dane Fletcher

Body fitness with compact well defined muscles is a craving for all and a quest for many. Most people only wish that they could miraculously attain a masculine body, yet it is common knowledge that exercising regularly is a prerequisite to such an achievement. In modern times, consequent to high media exposure, body building has become a routine occupation. Exercising regularly has become a favourite remedy for health problems ranging from heart diseases to obesity, and while at it a means to super looking body.

This belated tide to build muscles has however been adapted to extremes. Most gym frequenters drive themselves hard with a mentality of it is either all-or-nothing. A busy corporate employee who can not afford at least 30 minutes each day for a comprehensive workout, will most likely give up on exercising altogether. Research has shown that a 10 minutes session of exercises activity, spread out through the day for at least three sessions daily, yields the same benefits as a complete 30-minute consecutive workout.

Misconceptions abound regarding bodybuilding and body fitness. To maintain an energetic and healthy body, exercising must be a default way of life, irrespective of age. There is no limit to when to initiate an exercising schedule, as long as after initiating such a schedule, it is incorporated into the everyday life. That might sound simple at the outset but it is not easy in practice.

Most people attach different goals for their exercising such as toning and compacting muscles, acquiring flexibility, weight loss, to increase muscle size and strength, all to improve the overall body fitness. Each individual has unique goals, personal preferences, conceptual metabolism abilities, and genetic make-ups qualities. To achieve the best physical fitness exercising and body building program, individuals must amplify their strengths and play down their weaknesses.

A perfect program is evaluated on the basis of four components namely: Muscle strength, Flexibility, Muscular endurance and cardiorespiratory endurance. Muscular strength is basically the net ability of muscles to exert force for a brief duration especially to perform a task. To measure muscular strength of the upper body for instance, weight lifting exercises are used.

Body flexibility is the general ability to swiftly move body joints while harmoniously coordinating the use body muscles through the entire rage of motion. To measure body flexibility especially of the lower back and the backs of the upper legs sit-and-reach tests are optimally used.

Muscular endurance can be defined as the ability of body muscles to adequately sustain repeated contractions or to persist in applying similar amounts of force in a consistent direction against a fixed object. Muscular endurance especially of the arms and the upper body is adequately measured by the all time favourite pushups.

Finally, cardiorespiratory endurance can be defined simply as the ability to deliver adequate amounts of oxygen and crucial nutrients to the body tissues, to comprehensively excreta body wastes during heat combustion and metabolic processes. These two activities must concurrently remain efficient over sustained durations. Swimming and running for long distances are very good way of measuring levels of cardiorespiratory endurance.

The most basic yet result oriented exercise program for muscle building and general body fitness should aim at achieving high levels of these four components. This can be done only if each is adequately incorporated in the routine exercises irrespective of duration as long as there is a sensible balance in their distribution. Bodybuilding is always a result of very deliberate and conscious efforts and should not be either over played of undervalued.
