The Best Way To Gain Lean Muscle

By: Dane Fletcher

Bodybuilding can be fun and productive if only you can learn some few tips on how best to build that lean muscle mass that you desire so much. The first way you can do this is by getting back to the underlying concepts of bodybuilding. Bodybuilding is supported by the two pillars of disciplined training and proper nutrition. Some people are afraid that if they start eating like bodybuilders should they will end up getting fat.

This fear binds them so much that they fail to realize that with adequate training they will actually be lean and strong. Another main reason why most people fail at bodybuilding is because they dismiss the proven techniques as being too basic. They are always on the look out for the latest most exotic training methods that more often than not end up disappointing them. A third reason for failure at bodybuilding is because these proven techniques are just too hard to perform consistently. The pain and fatigue is often too much for many and they end up pulling out of training altogether.

Secondly you have to make sure that you are concentrating in compound movements rather than isolation-oriented movements. The seasoned and accomplished bodybuilders will tell you that the more intense the training activity the better the results that should be expected. Take for example a compound exercise like the squats. Squats really increase your ability to take on heavier weights since the body is able to summon more muscle groups in the effort. Compound and multi-joint exercises like these are more effective in targeting the large muscle groups and the small supporting ones like the arm muscles.

Working the entire body in this intensive manner will result in a greater muscle hypertrophy which means that more muscle mass will be accumulated. This is a complete departure from the benefits that can be accrued from isolation exercises like the leg extensions. Squats are more effective in boosting your metabolism and in generally growing your quads and entire body in the process.

Thirdly it is vital that you allow the body enough rest and recuperation. One should realize that the body does not grow in the training period rather gains are made during the resting period. This is when the body repairs its worn and torn muscles. Repair and installment of new muscle layers is done through the utilization of proteins that are taken into the body. Eating and relaxing therefore go hand in hand in the process of muscle building. Resting takes either of two forms. It can either be specific or systemic.

Specific training has to do with the time that is taken between the training of a specified body part say the quadriceps. The best thing to do in regard to specific training is to ensure that you give the individual muscle groups enough time to recuperate and by extension the whole body. For systematic resting it has to do with letting the body rest adequately by not training it on consecutive days. An effective way to adopt systematic relaxation is to train on two consecutive days and letting the body relax on the third. Make sure that each body muscle is trained every five to seven days.
