As if getting injured is not bad enough, you will likely need help in order to be reimbursed for your medical bills. That means hiring an attorney that specializes in accident/injury law. It can be difficult trying to decide who to hire or what else you need to do in order to get what is owed to you.

Be sure to stay away from a law firm that tells you "we can handle any type of claim"; you absolutely need a specialized personal injury lawyer. No matter which attorney you choose be sure to really check out their credentials, do not just take their word for it or settle for the diploma on the wall. Make a few phone calls it could save time later. There are a few ways to know hat the qualities of a good injury lawyer would be.

Before you hire an attorney it is a good idea to check their track record for past handling of similar cases. Many times with a good attorney there will be times that the case is settled out of court. This can be a big clue, as if the attorney is known around the courthouse with a great win record, most attorneys will not want to face them in court, thus a settlement is reached out of court.

If you locate a good attorney see if they would be willing to take the case on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if the case is won, perhaps it would be a bigger incentive.

You also want to make sure that you are comfortable with the attorney, be sure to meet them face to face at least once but preferably twice before making your decision. A good injury attorney will have no problem with you requested a few meetings first.

Other qualities of a good injury lawyer include being totally honest up front once they have checked out your case, they should be willing to tell you what they believe the outcome will be or at least some type of percentage as to what they think will be the outcome.

You will know that you have found a good attorney if you feel comfortable with them and they feel comfortable with you.

They should listen to everything you have to say and ask questions, more than once. They will have no problem with you contacting them at any time, you are hiring them, and they should be available at any time or get back with you quickly, within a reasonable amount of time.
