Conventional surgery will never detect other aberrations and its sole purpose is to correct what has been detected by the eye surgeon to be an aberration.

There are two types of aberration that can occur one is known as LOA or lower order aberration which can be detected by the eye surgeons by visual analysis or using commonly known refractive techniques. These are usually sphere and cylinder type of aberrations. Then there are other higher order aberrations which are known as HOA or higher order aberrations. Wavefront is definitely a technology which helps the doctor in understanding whether you need Wavefront ablation or not or even if you have higher order aberrations.

But even if you need to go in for a conventional Lasik surgery make sure to get a Wavefront diagnostic evaluation done as that will help getting to know what was not known by a conventional eye exam.
